Training and Certification

Closing of Training and Certification

As part of the University’s response to continued reductions in state funding and a decline in training needs at the University, effective May 5, 2015, the Information Technology Services Training and Certification unit will be ending some of their services.

At that time, Microsoft Office (i.e., Access, Excel, Outlook, Word) and Adobe multimedia (Dreamweaver, HTML, InDesign, Photoshop) workshops will be discontinued.

Please note that Blackboard, Equity & Diversity, Banner and Fiscal Services workshops will continue to be offered at the University.

Previously offered services, such as one-on-one consultations and class presentations will be discontinued. Limited telephone support for Adobe and Microsoft software applications (including Outlook), will be available through the ITS Support Center – (703) 993-8700 or support@gmu.edu.

To assist the user community, SkillPort (an online tutorial) will continue to be available as a training resource; and BYTE Week will continue to be offered the week before the start of every fall and spring semester.

George Mason University will remain a CertiPort testing center until September 4, 2015. For information on other CertiPort test sites, please click here

Training and Certification unit will offically close on September 4, 2015.

Questions can be directed to training@gmu.edu.
